Welcome to the Summer Term. I'm very exciting as I started the next step of my journey in Media. I'm sure this term I will be doing exciting things and improving further my skills. I just finished the break after second term and had time to get inspirations. I was impressed by fine art - and something what we call acrylic painting.
Acrylic painting started in Germany, in 1934 as a mixed formula of water, acrylic resin and pigment. It was a discovery of a paint that combined oils and watercolour paints diluted in the water.
We can highlight a three step in the process of acrylic painting: application, when each portion of paint contains the water and it prevents from hardening immediately, then evaporation when once it contacts with the surface starting chemical reaction and finally the polymer acrylic particles fusses together and start to dry. Last part is setting when the paint dries into water-resistant film and it has permanent and vibrant colour.
Positive facts of acrylics is they dry quickly, they will work or any surface, they can be mixed with any textures and also this kind of painting is non-toxic.
One of the known acrylic painter is Mona Edulesco - a french painter with Romanian origins. She is an artist and architect based in Lyon, and as she says about her work: "I enjoy applying and developing my skills through the exploration of other genres and techniques - flowers, landscapes and interiors, as well as portraits and live model drawings. I work predominantly in oil, but create also works in pastel, acrylic, watercolour, ink and charcoal." Interesting fact is that in her work she is using acrylic knife techniques. Then she says: "I am especially fascinated by the amazing textures and intense chromatic that you can explore by working the medium of oil painting. I love to work with heavy textures and to achieve vibrant dynamic color schemes. I mostly use a variety of palette knives in the realization of my works, sometimes in combination with brushes." In her work she focuses on the city subject and landscapes. Her work represents impressionism which the main idea were painting outdoor and immediately.
I cant't believe how she is talented to create such a wonderful paintings. Here I share her few artworks:
