Creating my Article III

                                                              Creating my Article III

Today I will be showing the process of creation a Flipbook in Flipsnack software and then in the final week I will add it to my Writing Page as my portfolio.

First I will open Flipsnack website and then I will create a flipbook from the basics

Screenshot 1 - Flipsnack website

Now I will choose the size of my flipbook and click 'create'

                                                            Screenshot 2 - Choosing size

Screenshot 3 - New Flipbook

As I tested before Lucidpress software won't allow me to download all 4 pages of my article because it is simple version of the program and if I want to download all I need to start subscription, I had to take screenshots of my pages using Snipping tool.

Screenshot 4 - Adding screenshots

                                                    Screenshot 5 - Adding screenshots

Now I need to adapt my page to the template, I need to expand it to the right side and repeat the process with every page
Screenshot 6 - Adapting page

Now all the pages of my article are uploaded.
Screenshot 7 - All pages uploaded

Now I can click on 'preview' and see my final outcome and also check if everything looks all right

                                                 Screenshot 8 - Final flipbok 1

Screenshot 9 - Final flipbook 2

Also I consider about change the background that will be more consistent to my website. I choose dark blue.

Now when I'm sure everything looks fine, I will publish my Flipbook.

                                                          Screenshot 11 - Publishing flipbook

        Screenshot 12 - Published flipbook

Now I need to embed the code from Flipsnack to my portfolio's website. I need to copy the code and paste it into proper tool in my website:

                                                     Screenshot 13 -  Getting code

I click on plus button and click 'embed' and then 'custom embeds' and then 'embed a widget'

Screenshot 14 - Embedding
Now I need to add copied code to the widget clicking on 'enter code' and the 'update'

Screenshot 15 - Embedded flipbook

Now I will cut it and paste it to the Writing Page and place it to the right side

And now I can re-publish my website to make sure changes are saved.

Self evaluation

 Self evaluation

Today I will be thinking about my website. I will follow and answer those questions:

Planning stage:

      1. What were your initial ideas for creating a website? style / name / template

My initial ideas about the style were to have professional style of the website, including professional and well created design. I considered about its consistency, typography and readability, colors, navigation, visual hierarchy and content. The name of my website should refer to my progression route which is English and Spanish language. Also, that template should consist of sections that I can present my work.

2. Do you have a tagline on your website?

Yes, I have a tagline underneath my name. This is “Powerful writing content that engages your audience”.

 Research:

     1. . Which designers / artists (relevant to your continuation route) websites did you look for inspiration?

I did research and look for websites such as:

EST Creative | Freelance Copywriter & Content Strategist (est-bostoncopywriter.com)

https://hennigweronikaanna.wixsite.com/weronika

but also

Alex Fisher Design

Architectural Design and Engineering Firm | Foster + Partners (fosterandpartners.com)

 2.   How many pages did you want to make on your website and why?  Did that change as you progressed onto the research / designing stage?

I thought about home page and about me page, then during my research and

my module I added also contact page, and writing page.

Content:

What is the purpose of your website?

The purpose of my website is to present and give information about the my brand to the audience, that the audience can understand what kind of work I’m doing. Also my website is the main placement of my Major Project for the Term I.

Who are your potential website users?

My potential users can be clients, also people who needs help with the content for example in Social media like Instagram.

Why do you think it is important to have a digital portfolio website?

It is because portfolio website allows me to be searchable and to achieve more clients.

Also to make them familiar with my work.

 Design:

Which design elements / tools did you use? (e.g.: infographics, fixed header, static background image, navigation menu design, text boxes, image galleries, social media feed) and why?

I used background image to state the purpose of my website which is writing.

Also, I added link to social media like Blogger and Instagram to have more consistent image of my brand.

Which template did you use in Wix and why?

I used Sasha Blake graphic design portfolio because it consists of elements that will good present the details of my work. Also I like that I have pages there that I can add image and on another side description of it or of my work.

How many pages does your website have and why?

There are 4 pages. Home page because it is a must to present my brand, it includes my name, logo, and also tagline which inform about my work, About me page that include my picture and my BIO, it shows more details about who I am, what I’m doing and what will be future, then Gallery page, it is designed for show my recent work like projects including articles. The last one is contact page, this site includes form for people who want to contact me and start to work with me or wants me to work for them.

Navigation:

Does your website have working social media icon links?

Yes, on the Contact page

Are your pages connected / interlinked?

Yes, on Homepage I have a button to About me page, and also and the down right side I have a button to Gallery Page.

     Is it easy to navigate?

Yes, it is.

Does the “Contact” page / email link work?

Yes, It is working.

Also I added a screenshot of a Home page of my website:

Screenshot 1 - Homepage of my website

Gallery Page

Gallery Page

I'm working on my Gallery Page today. I'll think about how the layout should be built and what kinds of things I should include. The key part is that my Portfolio Major Project will be included on the Gallery Page. My gallery page should have the project title, an introduction, and, because my project is an article, I'll present it as a flipbook, which I'll then upload to the website. I'll also include an explanation of my work's concept, the reason for doing it, and the techniques I used.

                                                                      Canva Mind map (Colwell, 2015)

The importance of a personal portfolio cannot be underestimated. I have to keep in mind that my portfolio is just one of several that clients may look at while doing their research. Because their time is valuable, I only have a short window to impress them, and I only have one opportunity. My portfolio page performs an important purpose, so it must be well-designed (Colwell, 2015).

Now I will show the process of designing my Portfolio page:

First I need to add new page and choose the template:

                                                Screenshot 1 - Choosing template

Then I add the title title
                                                          Screenshot 2 - Adding title

Then I add subtitle
Screenshot 3 - Adding subtitle

Next I add the title of my project

Screenshot 4 - Adding title

Then I will add information about my project

Screenshot 5 - Adding project introduction

Now I will customize my gallery page - add appropriate colors using Adobe pallet

                                                     Screenshot 6 - Adding colors

Now I will be working on finalizing my Major Project. I will add my article to Lucidpress template and then I will create flipbook and add it to the website.

The final outcome of my portfolio page:

Screenshot 1 - Final outcome 1

Screenshot 2 - Final outcome 2

I think my portfolio page looks consistent. I added the title of my project and also introduction to it. That was very important part. At the moment I'm not very happy with my subtitle and I will think how I can change that and of course ask for advice my Tutor. Also I need to add my flipbook on the right side while I'm still working at. Also I consider about to change the title of my Gallery Page for Writing Page as my project is an Article.

Home page

 Home page

Today I will work on the Home Page of my website. For now I have designed my logo and I have to consider few things how my Home page should be constructed.

Canva Mind map

The most important things is my Homepage include my name, my slogan and few information about my work. My homepage should be easy to read that visitors will be able quick find information, I will think about the image I can include on my homepage. It should be related to my progression route. It has to have clear information what is purpose of my website. On the left bottom of my page I should include my logo and also it should appear on every page of my website. My Homepage should be easy to navigate, include menu bar. Then I will think about the typography, colors and fonts I can use to have my Homepage consistent.

So now I will show the process of creating my Homepage:

First I will add new page and choose the layout

Screenshot 1 - Adding a page

Screenshot 2 - Choosing template

Then I will add my name, make it bold and bigger

                                                            Screenshot 3 - Adding title

Next is to add a slogan in about section  that states purpose of my website
                                                       Screenshot 4 - Adding slogan

Next I will add a button - and it will be linked to About me page
Screenshot 5 - Adding button

I found interesting quote about writing and I will add it to the next section

                                                   Screenshot 6 - Adding quote

Next is to add information about my work to the next section

Screenshot 7 - Work section

Now I will make sure my logo is on the bottom of the top left side

Screenshot 8 - Adding logo

Also I will add a 'my work' button to my work section, it will be linked to my gallery page

Screenshot 9 - Adding 'my work' button

Now I will open the Adobe color palette and find proper colors for my Homepage

                                                      Screenshot 10 - Adobe pallet

Also I would like to add background photo and I will look into Unsplash to find copyright free image

Screenshot 11 - Background picture

This is the final outcome of my Homepage:
Screenshot 12 - Final outcome 1
Screenshot 13 - Final outcome 2

Screenshot 14 - Final outcome 3

Now I will be working on my own images of industrial books  and consider another one and then I add it to my Homepage.
In my opinion Wix software again helped me to achieve a good design of my Homepage. Also my work run smoothly as I had initial ideas before. What I would do differently? For the next time I will prepare some images that I could add it immediately as I'm creating my Homepage.

Creating my Article II

 Creating my Article II

In this post I will be showing my further process of creating my article in Lucidpress software. Now I will be adding a shape and put pull quote after.

                                                       Screenshot 1 - Adding shape

Screenshot 2 - Adding body text

So now my page is ready to fill in with the text of my article. I will copy my text from Microsoft Word Document.

And also I will overflow my body text to the next column by clicking on the small square that I can find on the right side at the bottom of my first column and then I will repeat the process and do the same to another pages.
                                                   Screenshot 3 - Transferring text

At the end I will consider to add some colorful elements of design like half circles and frames.

Now I will be working on third page of my article.

I add sub-headings, two columns and also body text. Then I will consider about the picture.

Screenshot 4 - Third page - adding features

                                              Screenshot 5 - Adding image

Screenshot 6 - Adding and overflowing text

Also I need to fit the text to the columns so I will just grab the text and move it to the right side and also make the text smaller.

Now I will work on my 4th page. Here I will consider to add more pictures and one pull quote.

Screenshot 7  - Adding shape and body text column

And also I need to have two columns on this page
                                                   Screenshot 8 - Adding columns

Now again it's the time to fill the columns with the text and also I will add two pictures and a pull quote.

Screenshot 9 - Adding text and pictures

Now when finishing work I will check that everything looks fine and everything is done as I planned before. Then I will make screenshots of every page and upload them to the Flipsnack.
