'Midnight Rose' - The beginning

In today's class we had a look into how to create and layout our chapbook. Today I did some research about software that I can use.

To begin I signed up to Lulu and choose an e-book to create:

Then is to add the title and language of my e-book and then choose a category:

Next is to add copyright details and that part is very important

At this moment I will not add ISBN, later I will think about it

Because the title of my chapbook will be 'Midnight Rose' I consider to use rose image for my cover. Also the image should have space for the title as it will be the background. Here I make selection of copyright free images and then decide which one is the best for my cover:

In my opinion the last one picture is the best for my 'Midnight Rose' novel.

Now is to upload image and a document with my writing

The

Next step is to add Metadata information

At the end we consider pricing.

I had a look into Lulu software but there appeared problem with uploading my writing file so I have to look for another option to make my chapbook. I decided to use Canva software and then make screenshots and add it to Flipsnack.

I create my Cover using Canvas software. I create it from the scratch.
                                                        Canva blank page

First I add the chosen image using elements on tle left sidebar

Then I add the name of the author and the title to the textbox.

Then I choose appropriate font, size and colour. I think about Serif font that will fit my idea of romance. Serif font has tiny 'flourishes' and that makes the sentence looking decorative. I choose font called 'Great Vibes'.

Now I can save my cover as pdf, make screenshot of it and add it to the Flipsnack later to create a Flipbook to my Portfolio website.

Here is the final cover:

Now is to work on back page, I want to keep it pink and romantic, I will choose similar background, then I add ISBN and after that I can sell it. I just choose appropriate layout from Canva.

Now is to design title page and then content page, I will use Canva elements on the left page and on the right I put the title

I choose text and add the title, I choose appropriate font and size

Now I add copyright information and contents of my chapbook

I add the textbox from left menu bar, then choose font and size

I'm happy how I started with the design of my chapbook. Normally I would use Blurb or Lulu software as I planned before but then occurs some problems. Nothing is lost, I am able to continue to do my chapbook with Canva and Flipsnack software. I like the fact I found appropriate font to write the features of chapbook. This font look very romantic. Almost like the letter is written by goose feather. As I consider myself as romantic person, in this creation of romantic novel and using romantic colors and  pictures I feel like a fish in the water. Now is the time to start writing.
